Every referral you've ever sent
lives in a text thread you'll never find again.

You refer a client to a colleague. They say “thanks, I owe you one.” And then —

No record of the handoff

No shared document. No timestamp. Just a text that scrolled off the screen.

No idea if they signed

The sending attorney has to chase updates through favors and follow-ups.

No closure

No status, no follow-up, no notification when the matter resolves.

A fee split that lives in memory

PI fees pay out years after the handshake — often after you've changed firms, software, or phones.

The referral was real. The agreement was real. The record is gone.

Send. Accept. Track.

1

Send

Name the matter — practice area, county, incident date, adverse parties, urgency, fee expectation. The receiving attorney gets a clean handoff with everything needed to run conflicts before accepting.

2

Accept

They review the matter and accept (or decline) with one click. Client contact details unlock on acceptance — no poaching, no leakage, a real handoff.

3

Track

Both attorneys see the same record: sent → accepted → client contacted → retained. The fee expectation is in writing from day one, timestamped, in line with FL Rule 4-1.5.

No more “whatever happened to that case I sent you?”

Built to follow your career,
not your job.

Your referral network is the most portable asset you have as a lawyer. The record of it shouldn't evaporate every time you change firms.

🪪

Tied to your bar number

Your CLEAR account belongs to you — not your firm, not your IT department, not your practice management vendor.

🔄

Survives every transition

Go solo, switch firms, merge, retire your old phone. Your full referral history — and every documented fee agreement — is still at clear.certusgate.com.

📄

Fee entitlements, in writing, forever

A referral fee can come due two years after the matter was sent. Your claim to it shouldn't depend on a phone you turned in.

Think LinkedIn versus your old employer's directory.

One follows your career. The other vanishes the day you leave. CLEAR is the one you keep.

Your data is never locked in.
Not even to us.

CLEAR is built on OLE — the Open Legal Exchange (openlegalexchange.org), a free, open standard for legal referral data.

Your referral history lives in a format anyone can read — not a proprietary silo.

Export everything, anytime. It's your data.

As practice management platforms adopt OLE, your referral history connects to whatever you use — no re-entry, no migration, no ransom. CLEAR complements your existing software; it doesn't compete with it.

Want your platform to speak OLE?

Ask your vendor when they're adopting it.

The spec is free and takes hours, not months, to implement. Vendor pressure from attorneys is how standards get adopted.

The plain version: CLEAR is the free referral layer. CertusGate is the full operating system for intake and matter coordination. Use CLEAR with no obligation to use CertusGate. If you ever want to, we'll be here.

Accept with confidence.
Decline without awkwardness.

Every CLEAR referral arrives with what you actually need before saying yes:

📍

Practice area, county, incident date

So you know the venue and the statute of limitations clock before you touch it.

⚖️

Adverse parties

Run your conflict check before accepting. Not after. This alone saves awkward reversals.

💰

Urgency and fee expectation

No surprises about what the referral involves or what the sender expects.

🪪

Referring attorney's name, firm, and bar number

So you know exactly who is handing this to you — and can verify it.

Not your area? Decline in one click — or pass it to someone who fits. The referring attorney finds out fast, instead of wondering for three weeks. A declined referral that gets re-routed pulls a third attorney into the network.

Built for referral-heavy practices in Florida.

Solo and small-firm attorneys send and receive the most referrals — and have the least infrastructure for tracking them. CLEAR is that infrastructure, free.

Common questions

Is it really free?

Yes. CLEAR is free for verified attorneys, permanently. It's built by CertusGate, whose business is practice management software — CLEAR is our contribution to fixing the referral black hole, and our introduction to you.

Who can see my referrals?

Only you and the attorney on the other side of each referral. Client contact details are hidden from email and from the receiving attorney until they accept.

What happens if I switch firms or software?

Nothing. Your account is tied to your bar number and lives at clear.certusgate.com. Your history, contacts, and documented fee agreements come with you.

Does this create a binding fee agreement?

CLEAR documents the fee expectation both sides saw at handoff, timestamped. Florida Rule 4-1.5 requires a written fee-sharing agreement — CLEAR gives you the paper trail to anchor it.

What's OLE?

The Open Legal Exchange — a free, open standard for legal data, starting with referrals. It's why your CLEAR data can never be held hostage: it's stored in a format any platform can implement. Spec at openlegalexchange.org.

Do both attorneys need an account?

You need one to send. The receiving attorney sees the matter details by email and creates a free account (two minutes, bar number required) to accept and unlock client contact details.

Workflow organization, not legal advice.

CLEAR helps organize referral information. Attorneys remain responsible for complying with all applicable rules regarding referrals, client consent, fee division, conflicts, confidentiality, and professional responsibility. CLEAR does not approve fee arrangements, process legal fees, or act as ethics counsel.

Every referral you send without a record
is an asset you're throwing away.

Start the record. It's free, it's yours, and it follows you for the rest of your career.
